Our story began in late 2007, when our mom, still grieving the loss of her beloved African Grey, Shadow, found herself searching for new feathered companions to fill her heart and home with joy again. Shadow had been an incredible friend - talkative, funny, and always up for an adventure, but his sudden passing left an unfillable void.
That’s when she found us - two baby African Grey brothers - through a post on Craigslist. We were born on January 4th, 2008, Mom had planned to take just one of us home, but when she saw both of us together, she couldn’t resist. That was the best day of our lives! January 28th, 2008
As tiny three-week-old chicks, we required a lot of care. Mom had never cared for baby birds before, but she quickly became an expert! She syringe-fed us warm formula five times a day, monitored our health with meticulous care, and even kept us warm on a heating blanket. We loved snuggling with her, especially when she carried us around in a basket or let us nap on her chest.
One of our earliest memories was being introduced to the television! We were mesmerized by the lights and sounds, and to this day, our favorite show is American Idol. We sing, dance, and argue over who has the better voice - me Skippy, of course! (Scookie might have a different opinion!)
Our Aunt Ronnie bought us seasons 1 - 4 on DVD for Christmas one year!
From our beginnings as tiny chicks to the full-fledged feathery personalities you see today, we’ve been inseparable. This space is where we share our adventures, antics, and memories. We live with mom and grandma in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and we are here to spread joy, laughter, and a bit of parrot wisdom to everyone we meet.
